Nakuru Prostitutes write Open Letter to President Uhuru
A
Nairobi based businessman Muktar Ahmed should be credited for
implementing a fast approach of meeting the president. His candid open
letter to president Uhuru that was published in a local daily in the ad
space drew a lot mixed reactions. Borrowing a leaf from the aggrieved
businessman is a group of Nakuru Sex workers.
The sex workers
under an umbrella body of the Kenya Sex workers Association, on Monday
wrote a letter to the president following the brutal murder of four
prostitutes in Nakuru whose bodies were badly disfigured. One victim’s
face was skinned and her eyes gouged out with some body parts missing.
We
are hopeful for a chance to be protected by law and be respected as
human beings and as citizens of this country,” their national
coordinator Felista Abdalla said.
In the letter,
Abdalla lamented that at least 40 sex workers are murdered every month
and that one was killed in Kisii and another in Nanyuki.
On
Monday more than 200 commercial sex workers converged in Nakuru town to
protest against poor security. They said that many of their colleagues
are killed by men posing as clients.
